We
are saved by the grace of God in Jesus Christ

| When were
you saved? That’s a question that’s asked a couple of hundred—or thousand—times
a day in this world. When were you saved? It’s like receiving a check in
the mail that informs you that this is your last chance. The check
is only good if you sign and deposit it today. For many Christians naming
the date and time of choosing Jesus as Lord and Savior is an extremely important
part of salvation.

|
But consider
another scenario. Imagine you receive not a check in the mail, but notification
of a deposit from your bank. You don’t have to do anything to receive the
funds—the money is already yours. And the date on the deposit? Almost two
thousand years ago!
|
| God has
already accomplished salvation for us through the death and resurrection
of Jesus Christ. It’s money in the bank! This is the good news of Jesus
Christ: God loves you, chooses you, saves you not because of anything you
may do to deserve it. Salvation is a free gift from God for those who don’t
deserve it. Granted, you may experience the presence of God in powerful
ways at times throughout your life; but your salvation does not depend on
these powerful experiences. God wants us to choose him; but only because
God has already chosen us.

|
More good
news! Since we don’t deserve salvation, and can’t earn God’s grace,
we are free to say “yes” to the God who saved us. Saying yes to salvation
means that we enter into a life long relationship with the God who created
us and loves us. We are assured that nothing, not even death, can separate
us from God's love (Romans
8:31-39).
|
| Saying
yes to salvation means that we become part of Jesus’ family around the corner
and around the world (Galatians 3:26-28).
|
| When we
say “yes” to salvation, we have God’s assurance that we will never be alone
even after death. When we breathe our last breath, God will bring us to our eternal
home (John 14:1-3). It’s money in the bank!
God in
Christ has saved you. We encourage you to say “yes” to this free gift. We
hope you will also contact us in person, or via e-mail,
to share with us how God’s free gift has changed your life.
