We
are loved by God
| People
find it difficult to believe that there is someone out there who loves them
just as they are. For some of us, love, or what passes for love, was
offered and withheld in an effort to control our lives. For
others love is a term used to woo us into intimate physical relationships
that don’t last, leaving us feeling used and abused. Still others
of us have never heard the word love from the lips of those who were supposed
to care about us.
All
that is left is a hole deep inside yearning to be filled by the love of
another. Yearning for one who will never leave us, always care about
who we are and what is happening in our lives.

If
you are looking for that kind of love, you can find it in the love God
has for you.
God
is love, the Bible tells us (1 John 4:16). God is for us – for you - in order that
you might become the whole, healthy, creative and cared for human being
God designed you to be.
|
|
Jesus
once told a story (Luke 15:11-24) about a young man who demanded his inheritance
from his father, burned his bridges, left home and then squandered all
that he had. Upon realizing that he had lost everything, he returned
home with hopes of working for his father for less than minimum wage.
Surprisingly his father, upon seeing him, ran to greet him. The
father hugged the son and threw him a party. That was how great
the father’s love was for the son.
That
is like God’s love for us; forgiving, surprising, great. God is
ready and waiting for us to know His love, to know Him and His Son Jesus
Christ.
