| Loneliness
is a terrible thing, yet today it is more and more a way of life. As
cities grow larger and larger; as people move around more an more, it becomes
easy to be isolated and alone. Even in the midst of co-workers and
neighbors down the street we find ourselves without any true friends with
whom we can share our lives.
Fortunately,
loneliness is not God's plan for the world. When God created human
beings, including you and me, God created us to be in community. God
created us first to be in community with God's self, and then with others
around us. To that end God called together a people...a people who
would love and care for one another.
Covenant
is one of those communities of caring. We
strive to open ourselves to those who are seeking acceptance and friendship.
If you are lonely we invite you to get
in touch
with us that we might come to know you as friend.
The
PC(USA) Book of Order speaks of community in this way:
The
church is called to be Christ's faithful evangelist:
demonstrating
by the love of its members for one another and by the quality of its
common life the new reality in Christ;
sharing
in worship, fellowship, and nurture,
practicing
a deepened life of prayer and service under the guidance of the Holy Spirit;
